The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is New Zealands oldest and most respected animal welfare organisation , providing service to the animals since 1883. 
 
 In the Auckland region, the Societys Animal Village at Mangere attends to the needs of over 20,000 animals per year. Its Animal Hospital helps thousands of cases of neglect and suffering through ignorance or circumstance. 
 
 Twenty-four hours every day, 365 days a year, SPCA Inspectors help numerous animals in distress and investigate countless cases of animal cruelty. 
 
 The Society lobbies to improve the environment to provide a safer world for animals and educates children to appreciate the real value of animal life.
